What you’ll do
  • Manage Penquin’s internal and external digital assets, including all client social media platforms.
  • Build and maintain vibrant online communities across platforms like TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and more.
  • Create content calendars, strategies, and campaigns aligned with client objectives.
  • Oversee content creation, including writing and design elements, and ensure the quality aligns with client and Penquin standards.
  • Monitor and analyse social media performance, providing monthly reports and insights.
  • Collaborate with creatives and client service teams to integrate social media seamlessly into broader marketing strategies.
  • Ensure proactive community engagement, addressing feedback, queries, and concerns promptly.
  • Keep up-to-date with emerging social media platforms, tools, and trends to keep clients ahead of the curve.
  • Identify and engage with key social media influencers within target markets.
  • Develop and present innovative strategies that deliver measurable ROI for clients.
Client management
  • Build and nurture strong client relationships, presenting strategies and insights clearly.
  • Ensure client briefs are accurately communicated and executed.
  • Solve client challenges with creative and data-driven solutions.
  • Provide proactive recommendations to enhance client social media strategies.
Production and team management
  • Lead and inspire the social media team, ensuring high-quality delivery of services.
  • Manage social media project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Maintain oversight of all ongoing and new social media jobs.
What we’re looking for
  • At least three to five years of social media management experience across key platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn.
  • Strong understanding of the South African and global social media landscape.
  • A strategic thinker with creative problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt and deliver content for diverse industries.
  • Proficiency in social media planning, buying, and analytics tools.
  • General tech savviness and knowledge of digital marketing concepts.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
  • A proactive, energetic individual with a positive attitude and a sense of humour.
Requirements
  • A driver’s licence and own vehicle.
  • Active social media presence on platforms like Facebook, TikTok, X, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring a team.

Skills
  • Must be active in social media and understand the digital landscape and its audiences.
  • Must understand both the SA and global social media landscape.
  • Strategic and creative thinker that can assess client needs and produce required work to deliver on their objectives.
  • Research oriented person that can provide the business and its clients insights on market changes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot pros and cons of community management and content curation to ensure the face of our client’s brands remain intact in the digital space.
  • Energetic, positive outlook, with a good sense of humour!
  • Excellent writing, communication, and verbal skills.
  • General tech savvy.
  • Interest in digital marketing, new technologies, and social media.
  • Ability to adapt and deliver content across a spectrum of industries.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to delegate tasks and work closely with relevant team members.
