Job description

Key roles and responsibilities:
  1. Lecture contact learning students for four of the following possible modules: Business Maths, induction to Business studies, intro to Bus Management, Accounting 1, Data and decision making, Economics 1, Statistics
  2. Use a learning management system independently and/or collaborate to develop and deliver modules.
  3. Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials in partnership with the module coordinator (where appropriate).
  4. Complete grading/marking for all the module assessments (formative and summative).
  5. Take attendance and report to relevant line manager.
  6. Provide academic support to students and use communication platforms to address all student concerns and queries.
  7. Complete internal moderation reports (where applicable and appointed).
  8. Attend compulsory faculty meetings.
  9. Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager


Qualification and minimum requirements:
  • NQF level 8 honours degree or a postgraduate qualification in a related field linked to Business/Management/Commerce
  • A relevant masters degree is advantageous
  • Strong background in the modules listed above, preferably with practical or industry-related experience.
  • Knowledge of the economic, mathematical, statistical, and analytical frameworks that underpin South African business practices, with the ability to apply these principles to real-world business and industry contexts.
  • At least three years of teaching experience in a tertiary institution.
  • Knowledge and understanding of teaching practices and industry norms.
  • Experience in online and blended teaching and learning environments will also be advantageous.

Knowledge and skills:
  • Sound teaching and assessment skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
  • High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to cope with change.
  • Willingness to work when required on Saturdays.
