Job description
The Bookkeeper is responsible for financial transaction processing, which includes posting information to accounting journals or accounting software from source documents (customer invoices, cash receipts, and supplier invoices). The bookkeeper is also responsible for reconciling accounts to ensure their accuracy.
Areas of delivery:- Daily capturing of transactions in accounting software (Pastel or Xero ZA).
- Loading payment batches and transfer on bank after cash flow approval or upon request.
- Bank reconciliations done on a weekly basis, import bank statements and allocate payments and receipts.
- Daily capturing of creditors transactions, and bi-weekly creditors reconciliations in preparation of cash flow. Requesting monthly statement and follow up on invoices outstanding as identified on statement.
- Preparing customer invoices using artwork catalogues or cost estimates when required, perform bi-weekly debtors reconciliations in preparation of cash flow and highlight outstanding receipts.
- Preparing supplier section of bi-weekly cash flow forecasts, including artist and art sourcing payments.
- Monthly maintenance and reconciliation of jobs GL accounts and budgets.
- Weekly capturing and reconciliation of petty cash transactions.
- Weekly inventory importing.
- Bi-monthly reconciliation of GRN accounts.
- Maintaining asset register and processing monthly depreciation and amortisation journals.
- Maintaining an orderly accounting filing system, paper and electronic.
- Providing clerical and financial administrative support to management team when requested.
- Complete a stock take every six months.
Requirements:- Diploma in accounting/finance
- Minimum five years of bookkeeper work experience
- Working knowledge of Pastel Partner, Xero ZA advantageous
- Proficient in MS Excel
- Debtors and creditors reconciliation experience required
- Inventory experience advantageous
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently
- Good team player
- Good problem-solving skills
- Deadline driven
