Leading South African event infrastructure company, Scan Display, has been appointed the official infrastructure supplier for the congress and its accompanying exhibition. The event follows on from the 1st World Congress on Healthy Ageing held in Malaysia in 2012 - a congress that attracted 1,500 delegates.

The theme of this year's congress, Bridging the Ageing Divide, aims to create a global forum bringing together internationally-renowned experts to address healthy ageing in the new millennium, with a specific focus on the African region.

"This prestigious congress is an excellent opportunity to establish best international practice for a congress of this size in the South African market," says Scan Display's Managing Director, Justin Hawes.

The content of the congress is pre-determined by a scientific committee of experts under the chairmanship of Dr Ryan Fuller, South African psychogeriatrician. Running parallel to the scientific programme will be a series of caregiver and consumer workshops that will address healthy ageing issues relating to the general public.

Confirmed speakers for the congress include Dr Yen Choo, molecular biologist and member of the UK Stem Cell Steering Committee; Professor Suresh Rattan, head of the Laboratory of Cellular Ageing of the Department of Molecular Biology at the Aarhus University in Denmark; Professor Bradley Willcox, well-known Physician-Investigator in Geriatrics; and Dr Tim Noakes, Professor in the Discovery Health Chair of Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Cape Town; among others.
