GIBS Executive MBA programme ranked in top 60: QS Global Executive MBA Ranking

Global business school analyst Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has released the 2020 World University Rankings: Global Executive MBA (EMBA) and University of Pretoria's Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) has once again been ranked in the top 60. This is the fourth edition of the ranking and the second time that GIBS has been ranked out of 161 schools globally. This ranking adds to GIBS' accolades including the prestigious London Financial Times Executive MBA Ranking, where GIBS ranks as top South African and African business school.

The School was ranked across four key indicators: career outcomes, diversity, employer reputation, profile and thought leadership with diversity and career outcomes attaining high scores. Under career outcomes where salary increase and promotions were taken into account, GIBS received an overall score of 89.5 out of 100, (the global mean score is 65.5) putting the School in the top 12.1%. Under the diversity metric, the school attained an overall score of 86.5 out of 100 (the global mean score is 58.2) placing it in the top 8.5% globally.

Interim-Dean of GIBS, Dr Morris Mthombeni, said, “We are very proud of the success of our alumni and strive to continually support them. Through our MBA, we aim to provide high-impact and rigorous learning experiences that will help students solve business problems and drive positive change in their organisations.

"The ranking is a reminder that in our delivery of the programme, we must never be complacent, we must continuously adapt the programme to meet with changes in our environment and give students value that they can use in their organisations,” added Dr Mthombeni.

The GIBS MBA curriculum creates an opportunity for students to become well-rounded and effective managers and this ranking is testament to the positive impact the programme has had on students.
