Rhino poaching warriors awarded at Rhino Conservation Awards

Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa recognised the efforts of those trying to curb rhino poaching at the Rhino Conservation Awards, which was held at Montecasino on 21 August 2017.

The awards are held to acknowledge those who prioritise rhino conservation within their specific areas of expertise, these include field rangers, conservation practitioners, conservation supporters, political, investigative and judicial supporters, and endangered species conservationists.

The winner of this year's conservation practitioner award was the Marula South ranger team at the Kruger National Park. These rangers are responsible for the conservation and protection of the majority of the continent's rhino population.
