Job description
Are you passionate about product marketing, retail and education? We’re looking for a Marketing Intern to support our sales and marketing teams in building strong relationships with booksellers, trade and retail partners, including leading online retailers such as Takealot and Amazon, as well as support with events, sales and marketing campaigns and customer data. This is a hands-on internship based in Cape Town (hybrid), ideal for someone eager to learn, contribute and grow in the world of educational publishing.
Key responsibilities
Retail and trade support: - Coordinate relationships with booksellers, trade and retail partners (including online retailers).
- Create and manage a trade and retail promotional calendar.
- Coordinate advertising campaigns, including creative assets/copy.
- Organise in-store promotional material, merchandise and ads.
- Provide accurate product data to partners.
- Track online reviews and ratings, flagging issues or opportunities.
- Conduct basic research on competitor products, pricing, and promotions in retail channels.
Event support:- Assist with the planning and coordination of sales, marketing and training events.
- Assist with logistics, digital channel administration, invitations, registrations and lead capture.
CRM and data management: - Support CRM activities, including lead capture, and data entry, cleaning, maintenance, upload and sharing.
- Assist with GDPR/POPIA compliance checks for marketing communications.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (with a focus on trade/retail preferred).
- Confident, friendly and able to work independently.
- Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Comfortable handling and managing data with accuracy.
- Interest in product marketing and go-to-market activation.
- Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
Bonus points - Experience in book or educational material contexts.
- Retail and/or event coordination experience.
- Familiarity with AI tools and automation.
- Experience with CRM systems or marketing automation platforms.
Interests and skills- Product marketing and campaign activation.
- AI and automation for marketing and/or administration tasks.
- Creative thinking and initiative.
