Job description
Who are we: An FMCG business headquartered in Zambia, with a strategic presence across the African continent.
Who are we looking for: A Production Unit Manager to plan, manage and control overall production unit operations to ensure efficient manufacturing, consistent product quality, food safety compliance, recipe control and achievement of production targets. You will be based in Lusaka, Zambia.
What will you do:- Manage day-to-day chocolate production operations to ensure smooth workflow
- Ensure production targets are met in terms of quality, quantity and timelines
- Monitor and control process parameters (back process and packing)
- Ensure compliance with food safety, GMP, HACCP and hygiene standards
- Coordinate with QA, maintenance and stores for uninterrupted production
- Handle manpower planning, shift management and team supervision
- Control production costs, wastage, rework and downtime to meet budget targets
- Maintain production records and report
- Monitor production performance, KPIs, line efficiencies and yield; implement improvement actions
- Coordinate closely with QA/QC, Maintenance, Supply Chain and Warehouse departments
- Lead, train and develop supervisors, operators and production staff
- Handle customer complaints, internal non-conformities and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Support audits, certifications and regulatory inspections
Key Performance Indicators:- Strong knowledge of chocolate processing and raw materials
- Understanding of food safety and quality systems
- Leadership and team-handling skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making ability
What do you need:- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science
- 2–3 years of experience in the food industry; experience in chocolate manufacturing will be preferred
- Proficiency in SAP is essential
- Experience with sensory evaluation and statistical analysis is preferred
- Strong problem-solving and project management skills
