Clicks going on holiday with you this summer

This December when hitting the road for the end of year break there is no need to stress about being able to fill your prescriptions when out of town should the need arise. You will be able to collect your prescription medication at any Clicks Pharmacy when on holiday - even if your prescription is at your local Clicks Pharmacy.

With the end-of-year holidays just a month away; the centralised database system that Clicks Pharmacy rolled out in 2007 ensures that no matter where in SA you visit, your full patient profile and medication history is accessible.

This is due to the introduction of a centralised computer database system around South Africa amongst ClubCard holders who register at their local pharmacy with their and their close family's personal details as well as the ClubCard holder's membership number. All member transactions and prescriptions filled from then on will be recorded on a centralised database system which guarantees that this information will be available at all stores around the country thereby eliminating the need to carry prescriptions.

“A personal record is kept for each ClubCard member with all of their active prescriptions, allergies, and medical history, explains Willie Jordaan, Head of Professional Services at Clicks.

It's a great comfort, especially for families attempting to prepare for every eventuality. Regardless of where they are in the country, ClubCard members that have registered can pop into any Clicks Pharmacy and the pharmacist will access the prescription details, fill it - as well as offer medical advice and guidance.”

The personal information is protected by the same Doctor/Patient confidentiality that exists with your GP. So there is no compromise with information being accessible to people that should not have access to it. The only information that is made available is the prescription info; meaning that without jeapordising anyone's privacy - at the same time one can visit any Clicks pharmacy around the country and be able to receive the medication that has been prescribed to a patient - without necessarily having the reason behind the prescription spelled out.

This is in line with the Clicks Pharmacy strategy for 2008 and 2009 of bringing your pharmacist closer to you. The focus is on the patient or ClubCard member and how best to suit his or her needs.

Further rollouts are planned in this strategy which incorporates prescription home deliveries, and in-store testing for BMI, cholesterol, blood pressure and more. Not only in a Clinic capacity.

So this December, when packing for your trip to the seaside, worry about the more important things in life. Such as the perfect LBD, the right shoes, and of course games to keep the kids entertained during the drive to your destination. Let Clicks worry about the rest.
