Claiming seven out of the 11 Double Gold Medals awarded, and five of the six Gold Medals, Distell emerged as the definitive winner in the Veritas Awards brandy category.

The House of Van Ryn's took home two Double Golds for the 12-year-old Distiller's Reserve and 15-year-old Fine Cask Reserve potstill brandies, while Oude Meester took two Double Golds for the Demant potstill brandy and the 18-year-old Souverein potstill brandy. Richelieu 10 year old, Flight of the Fish Eagle and Collison's White Gold continued the winning form, each claiming a Double Gold.

This year, Veritas Awards celebrated its 25th year of excellence in wine. With a cast of top international and local judges carefully adjudicating over 1800 entries, the competition has established itself as the benchmark in recognising exceptional quality and is widely regarded as the definitive local competition for brandies in particular.

"These accolades enforce our belief that South Africans can truly be proud of the brandies produced on our shores," said Distell's Brandy Ambassador, Nicholas Holdcroft. "Whether we are winning world's best brandy at the top international competitions, such as Van Ryn's has done for an incredible 12 times in the last 14 years, or consistently claiming the top plaudits at local competitions, the exceptional quality and value of our brandies continues to shine through."
