Veritas medals galore

Following its trophy and gold medal wins on the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London earlier this month, Nederburg has earned the highest number of Veritas medals at this year's SA National Wine Show.

The estate took two double gold, five gold, 12 silver and 10 bronze medals, with the newly released Manor House collection making an impressive debut showing.

The two double golds went to two wines sold exclusively on the Nederburg Auction, the 2005 Edelkeur and the 2004 Private Bin R163 Cabernet Sauvignon. The five golds were awarded to the 2007 Manor House Sauvignon Blanc, released this spring, as well as to the 2004 Edelkeur, 2006 Private Bin Chardonnay D270, the 2007 Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc and the 2007 Sauvignon Blanc/Chardonnay.

Amongst the silver medallists were the 2005 Manor House Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2006 Manor House Shiraz and the 2007 Special Late Harvest.

The estate's marketing manager, Misti Watson, says these wines are consistently earning acclaim on a variety of competitions, saying "Despite the difference in judging panels, these wines show an extraordinary capacity to appeal, whether locally in the UK, France or Germany."

The 2005 Manor House Shiraz won the Rosemount Estate trophy on the International Wine & Spirit Competition, a gold medal on the German competition, MUNDUSVini and a gold medal on the 2007 Syrah du Monde, while the 2006 Manor House Shiraz won gold on the Michelangelo International Wine Awards with the Manor House Sauvignon Blanc and Special Late Harvest both of the 2007 vintage, winning silver on this event.
