A PA to the HR manager of Ellerines, Buitendag also received prizes valued at over R50 000 and will feature prominently in News Cafe's lifestyle campaign for the next year.

"This is not your typical beauty pageant," says Nick Eleftheriadis, News Cafe marketing director. "It's about the vibe and finding a suitable personality that fits hand-in-glove with our brand philosophy. We firmly believe that we have found this synergy with Monique and look forward to her reign, where she will represent the brand through various promotional activations and marketing platforms."

Reach for a Dream partakes in evening

Together with Reach for a Dream, Carli Wessels, News Cafe special events manager, ensured that 17-year-old Chris Samuel who dreamed of meeting Jamali came true. He was invited to join the three songstresses and guest entertainers for the night, live on stage.

"Fulfilling the wishes of children with life threatening illnesses provides hope and courage through their darkest days. We believe strongly in the power of dreams and know that Chris will forever treasure the memories News Cafe helped to facilitate for him and his family," says Bronwyn Feldwick-Davis, the organisation's branch manager for Johannesburg.
