Underprivileged children go on shopping spree

Jet Stores, in partnership with the Nashua Children's Charity Foundation, spent the last two months bringing some much needed Christmas cheer to many orphaned and abandoned children at care homes across the country. Over the years that the shopping spree has taken place, the budget has increased from R60,000 to R120,000 and the Jet Stores involved have increased from one to 11.

The shopping sprees were made all the more fun for the excited children as a large group of celebrity guests including Hlubi Mboya, Tamara Dey, Danny K, Mark Fish and Simba the Lion were on hand to help them pick out their new outfits.

New clothes

"The response from the children is overwhelming," said Nashua Children's Charity Fund director Helen Fraser. "Many of them have never received new clothes. The joy these children experience through the simple act of being able to choose new clothes is a wonderful thing to see."

Jet Club manager Ephraim Mamabolo said care centres like these have an immense impact in the community and are truly spreading hope throughout South Africa. "We trust that this day will have a positive impact by making our communities aware of these extraordinary centres that strive to make a difference in the lives of children."
