Level 2 Empowerdex rating for Barloworld Logistics

Logisticsweek.com reports that supply chain management company Barloworld Logistics has been awarded a Level 2 empowerment rating by the Empowerdex agency. This confirms the company's excellent achievements in the areas of transformation and empowerment in South Africa's supply chain and logistics sector.

The news came in the wake of a significant upswing in profits and financial year performance for the Barloworld business and it firmly establishes the company among top South African companies that are committed to empowerment and transformation.

Speaking to Logisticsweek.com, Barloworld Logistics CEO Steve Ford said that the award - a significant achievement for their business - comes as a result of dedicated work over a long period of time. "We can proudly say that we are market leaders in transformation in the supply chain and logistics industry in South Africa," Ford said. "We will continue to improve this position with specific focus on employment equity, skills development and procurement from empowered companies."

According to Empowerdex, Barloworld Ltd General Industrials is placed 18th in the Financial Mail/Empowerdex Top Empowerment Companies for 2011 with a score of 82.89, up from last year's 21st place and a score of 75.24.
