    Nokia Rise & Shine Festival returns to Sandton

    On 7 December the eco-friendly acoustic music festival returns with a brand new musical line-up. Festival-goers can look forward to scrumptious food, delicious refreshing drinks, excellent music and clean, beautiful idyllic surroundings.

    Summertime stage:
    • Mr Cat & The Jackal: Cape Town-based carnival pirate musical eclectic;
    • COAX: Think Black Keys-style blues rock;
    • BCUC: Black magic super group from Soweto;
    • Albert Frost: SA blues legend;
    • Shortstraw: indie favourites;
    • Josie Field: nu-folk songstress;
    • Kite Rider: starring the shape-shifting Jon Savage;
    • Tamryn Jones: southern gypsy queen; and
    • Banda: chilled out hard core afro-jazz.

    Sandton Central Park is on the corner of Sandton and Grayston Drives with the entrance to the festival on 5th Street. Gates to the festival open at 7am and Karen Brink will get the day going with a Halcyon Yoga session at 8am before the music kicks off at 9am.

    A tree for every 50 people who attend

    Nokia Rise & Shine Festival in association with Johannesburg City Parks will plant a tree for every 50 people who attend the festival ensuring that a green footprint is left behind. Trees will be planted in underprivileged communities in Gauteng. Eco-friendly travel options include the Gautrain or a tuk-tuk or if coming by car please fill every seat with a friend and park at Sandton City where it is R10 for the day.
