#SUNDAYFUNDAY is the name given to Sunday events in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town where patrons can nominate and promote a charity to receive 100% of the ticket purchase price by using a unique referral code when booking online.
“Since our inaugural event in 2011 we have always aligned ourselves with charity organisations and causes like The Sunflower Fund, Movember and the Institute for The Blind, as well as various animal welfare groups,” says event owner Andrew Douglas. “This year we’re opening up the opportunity to any and all registered charities, and more specifically those that support them, by mobilising members of the public to take the challenge and activate their social networks by turning Sunday ticket sales into cash donations for their favourite cause”.
“The #SUNDAYFUNDAY initiative has largely been made possible by our committed group of entertainers, suppliers and event contractors, all of who have either discounted their goods, services or discounted their professional fees by as much as 50% for Sunday to make this happen,” Douglas added.
A Standard Bier Hall ticket is priced at R125 per person and Douglas has identified a potential sum that could be raised well in excess of R500,000. “We certainly have capacity with some 7,500 tickets available for sale nationally, but it will all come down to the individuals involved to take the challenge, promote the opportunity and monetise their personal marketing platforms for the greater good”.
By registering via the TOPS at SPAR Bierfest website at “Give Back”, fundraisers will be vetted using a simple criteria before being issued a unique referral code to promote throughout their social networks.
In addition, organisers will provide personalised electronic marketing collateral displaying each unique referral code allowing fundraisers to help kick-start their campaigns on social media and email.
