Cape Town Carnival's explosion of creativity is ready to light up the Fan Walk

Attention Cape Town! Come join in the Cape Town Carnival spirit for a magical journey of the imagination on 16 March along the Fan Walk, Somerset Road, Green Point.

The line up for the pre- and after party has been confirmed and promises exciting entertainment for the whole family from 5pm 'til midnight. 2010 SA Idols finalist L'loyd Cele and SAMA winner singer/songwriter and producer Claire Philips will warm up the crowd until the Carnival comes alive at 7pm when spectacular performers, richly decorated floats and the parade take spectators on a dazzling journey through our African Legends. Crazy White Boy (brainchild of two successful local house producers Ryan Murgatroyd and Kosta Karatamoglou) and internationally renowned DJ Ready D will keep the spirit alive and rock the free street party after the Carnival.

Be sure to come early as you don't want to miss out on the parade opening with the handsome firemen of the Cape Town Fire Department, the Cape Town based 20sk8 Skateboarding crew and Cape Town's cycling phenomenon Moonlight Mass an appearance too!

Be prepared to be blown away by Legends from all over Africa. From the colourful Namaqualand Daisies, through to the Tsitsikamma and the majestic elephants of the Knysna Forest, passed Nyami Nyami the Spirit of the Zambezi and the Mantis and the Moon. On the way see the show stopping Queen of Sheba and then all the way down to the Cape to discover the tale of Van Hunks on Table Mountain unfolding and what really happened to the The Flying Dutchman.

To ensure that no one goes hungry, there will be vendors all along the Fan Walk selling delicious snacks and beverages from 3pm onward.
