Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa in Knysna has appointed Yash Jithoo as food and beverage manager. Durban-born Jithoo matriculated from Reservoir Hills Secondary School in 1996 and spent a year studying at the University of Durban, Westville before deciding to pursue a career in the hospitality industry.
Pezula appoints new F&B manager

He started by working for CKS Catering as banqueting and operations manager, and F&B duty manager. CKS is the management company with the F&B contract at the RCI Gold Crown Breakers Resort in Umhlanga.

In 2003 Jithoo joined Sun International Zambia, and worked as banqueting manager for a year, before being promoted to assistant food and beverage manager at the five-star Royal Livingstone Hotel. When his two year contract was over, he moved back to South Africa to take up the position of operations manager with the Squires Group which owns all the Squires Steakhouses in the Sun International Casinos as well as 29 restaurants countrywide, and has the F&B contract for a number of hotels and casinos.

In October 2006 he became co-owner of the Green Truffle Restaurant, voted one of the Top 100 Restaurants in South Africa by Dine Magazine 2007.

In 2008 Jithoo took up the position of GM of the Culinary Equipment Company, the sole importers and distributors of high performance kitchen and lifestyle equipment in Africa.

In May last year, he went back to doing what he loves best as senior assistant food and beverage manager at Sun International's Palace of the Lost City.

Says Jithoo: "Pezula has a reputation for being one of the best properties in the world and has a passionate and dedicated F&B team. I look forward to working with and leading this motivated and focused team to ensure that Pezula remains a world class destination, and that Zachary's Restaurant continues to be regarded as one of the top 20 in the country."
