Emperors Palace winter line-up

Emperors Palace, the Johannesburg entertainment destination has announced a line-up of events for June and July 2010 that are planned to attract everyone from schoolchildren to visiting football fans.

Richard Loring's musical African Footprint tells the tale of African history, culture and spirit and will be performed on stage at the Theatre of Marcellus in June. Tickets start from R185 per person and can be bought at the Emperors Palace Box Office or through Computicket. Special dinner packages and school fund-raising opportunities are available on request.

The Odeon Showbar offers a cabaret revue as its main attraction with the razzmatazz musical Adrenalin showing until the end of July. One of the highlights is the musical repertoire performed by the talented vocal trio, Ali Pucci, Kurt and Tia Herman. The music spans various genres and offers something for everyone; including classics from the Rolling Stones to Elton John, to 80s' hits including Juke Box Hero by Foreigner. Tickets are R65 per person, Wednesdays to Saturdays and can be purchased at the door.

Musical acts and performances

Marc Antony's Tobacconist and Cigar Lounge offers guests a host of musical acts and performances including ex-Idols singer Melanie Louw; Mark and Dezi; Gerry Azor; Outback; and Barcode. Rob and Ali, White Rabbit and Devinity perform before and after the show at the Odeon Showbar to keep the celebration and musical serenading going.

Reggae fans are in for a treat with a performance by local outfit Tidal Waves, who will perform at 64 @ The Palace on 21 June. Tidal Waves writes and performs original reggae music with traditional African musical influences like Maskandi, Mbaqanga, Ska as well as rock. 64 @ The Palace also has a live performance by 2005 SAMA award winner for Best Adult Contemporary Album, Phinda on 22 June. Phinda is well known for her performance of Rafiki in the Lion King stage production, spending two years in Toronto, Canada. Tickets for Tidal Waves and Phinda are R75 each and can be purchased at the Emperors Palace Box Office or through Computicket.

Steve Hofmeyr returns

After a three-year break, Steve Hofmeyr returns to launch his new album "Duisend En Een" from 14 to 24 July in the Theatre of Marcellus. This album is Hofmeyr's first new Afrikaans album since "Waarmaker". Tickets start at R135 per person and can be bought through the Emperors Palace Box Office or Computicket.

A show for the younger audience is the new magical creation Fairy Dust. Children with vivid imaginations will be transported into an exciting and interactive world of magic, illusion and mystery in this show performed by illusionist, Vicus Cruywagen. Children are encouraged to participate in the show to experience the effects and excitement first hand. Fairy Dust will be performed at 64 @ The Palace from 11 June, Wednesdays to Sundays. Tickets are R65 per person and can be bought through the Emperors Palace Box Office or Computicket.

The Emporium offers children loads of entertainment too. Jupiter's entertainment hub provides specially designed fantasy play rooms, including a marvellous art room and a "neuro-interactive" edutainment room. Jupiter's also has a mini cinema room where all the latest DVDs are available for the little ones to watch while being looked after by trained child minders.For thrill-seeking teens (and adults) there is the Magic Company, a games arcade offering the hippest video and arcade games.

Ultra-modern digital cinemas

Nu Metro Emperors Palace houses one of the largest theatres on the African continent, seating over 500 people. There are six movie theatres including ultra-modern digital cinemas and 3D cinemas, each fitted with a sound system that rivals the best in South Africa. New releases include X Games 3D, The Movie; Mel Gibson's The Edge of Darkness; The Prince of Persia; Leon Schuster's new movie Shucks Tshabalala's Survival Guide to South Africa; and Sex and the City 2.

Football fever will hit the entertainment resort over June and July with projection screens strategically located around the casino floor and in the Entertainment Emporium. Selected matches will be screened live in the Laduma Family Fun Park in Centre Court. The fun park will cater for the entire family with match screenings for adults and a supervised interactive entertainment area for the kids.

Heavenly prizes

Gaming enthusiasts can score a world of heavenly prizes with Laduma, a new promotion with over R10 million in cash, Kia cars, prizes and special offers from 1 June to 31 July 2010.

In conjunction with 94.7 Highveld Stereo, Emperors Palace will be looking for the ultimate fan, with over R300 000 in cash and prizes to be won. Laduma car and cash draws take place on 27 June and 1 August in the Theatre of Marcellus, and winners stand a chance of winning one of five Kia Ceratos and R200 000 in cash.

Equal Chance Draws take place on 15 and 16 June and 18 July with R12 000 to be won. One Day Only Equal Chance Draws take place on 26 June and 31 July with more than 150 winners winning their share of R200 000 in cash. Bingo Roulette takes place every Wednesday during June at 9pm on the promotions stage, with the base jackpot of R10 000 to be won.
