Penquin, Suzuki Auto South Africa's marketing and communications partner for many years, will be participating in this event. Friends, work colleagues and family members will also donate at least R50 while they stand a chance of winning a weekend away at one of the destinations the road trip will cover.

Penquin creative executive, Darren Leishman, says corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an often neglected media channel, but making use of it definitely endears a brand to its fans and delivers a brand new target market.

Making a difference

"It always feels good when you know that you have made a small difference in someone's life, particularly a child's. We are not just piggy backing off a CSR initiative to promote a vehicle, but rather committing to a cause by setting a fund raising target to aid the Put Foot Foundation. The rally is an ideal manner in which to present the new Grand Vitara and ultimately demonstrate the benefits and features of the vehicle in suitable terrain," says business unit director Veronica Wainstein.

The road trip started on 22 October when Penquin drivers Veronica Wainstein and Darren Leishman, together with Suzuki Auto SA drivers Megan MacDonald and Charl Grobler, left on their tour of the South African countryside. They will be joined by motoring journalists along the way and will put the Grand Vitaras through their paces while visiting unusual destinations with Suzuki's newest offering.
