Emmarentia Dam, Joburg will play host to Vodacom In The City on Sunday, 4 October, 2015, but it will also be hosting eight events aimed at getting lovers of music together in and around Joburg and Pretoria.
The events are:
She Said #VITC Sunrise Walk on Sunday, 20 September at Emmarentia Dam from 6am to 11am. Join iconic blogger Anne-belle Mulder for a spectacular sunrise walk through Joburg's Emmarentia Dam and Botanical Gardens. This is a free event open to ticket and non-ticket holders and all participants stand the chance to win prizes and the opportunity to take photos of international acts The Kooks, Milky Chance and The Cat Empire from the media pit at Vodacom In The City. The first 20 walkers to arrive will also get free entrance into Boosh!
Vodacom Open The City Boosh on Sunday, 20 September at Marks Park from 10am to 6pm. Joburg's cult music event run by one of SA's biggest acts, Shortstraw. Before the winner of this competition (who will perform on the main stage at Vodacom In The City) is announced, this is a chance to see all five finalists perform live. For only R50 catch December Streets, Timo ODV, Nomadic Orchestra, Early Hours and Grassy Spark. This is open to ticket holders and non-ticket holders.
#VITC2015 Night at Bob Rocks on Wednesday, 23 September at Bob's Bar, Greenside at 8pm. Bob's Bar will kick off with decks spinning music from the VITC acts, ticket give-aways and prizes all night long. This free event is open to ticket holders and non-ticket holders.
Puma Fishtail Heritage Ride on Thursday, 24 September at Great Dane, Braamfontein from 2pm to 5pm. The first 20 riders get to use an exclusive Fishtail bicycle, while additional bikes can be rented at R50 each. You are free to bring your own bike. See the city from a unique angle as you tour inner Joburg, Newtown and Braamfontein on this cultural experience. End off this energetic day with a drink at the Great Dane Bar. This event is only open to VITC ticket holders and you must register to secure your spot (only 100 spots available).
Pirate Boat Takeover on Saturday, 26 September at Zoo Lake from 12pm to 6pm. Get dressed up, bring your water guns and go head-to-head with other boats as you try to take them over. Come prepared to get wet and bring your sunscreen, or just chill on the dam banks while you watch all the action. Prizes will be awarded for best-dressed and best sieges. Open to VITC ticket holders and registration is a must to secure one of the 100 spots available.
City-to-City Bus with Lazola Gola. Rosebank, Joburg to Lucky Rodrigo, Pretoria (return trip) on Sunday, 27 September from 11am to 3pm. What better way to get to the capital than on the City-to-City Bus with comedian Lazola Gola. Hop on at Rosebank Gautrain Station and hop off at Lucky Rodrigo for a Vinyl Fair. This is open only to VITC ticket holders and registration is a must to secure your spot (only 50 spots available).
Vinyl Fair, Lucky Rodrigo on Sunday, 27 September at 12pm. Best known for their unbelievable steaks, sticky wings and delicious ribs, Lucky Rodrigo will play host to the Vinyl Fair. Complete with vinyl DJs spinning the decks, a wide variety of vinyls on sale and a delicious braai. Open to ticket holders and non-ticket holders.
#VITC2015 Instagram Exhibition at First Thursdays on Thursday, 1 October at Great Dane Lane, Braamfontein at 6pm. We always look for unique ways to incorporate art into #VITC2015 and this year is no different. Through our various Instagram campaigns including #MyVITCStyle, #VITCSunriseInstaWalk and #MyVITCCity we will be exhibiting your photos at Braamfontein's popular cultural activation First Thursdays. Prizes will be awarded on the night for outstanding pictures. This is a public event and photos will be displayed on the wall outside Great Dane.
Great Dane #VITC2015 Party on Thursday, 1 October at Great Dane, Braamfontein at 8pm. With our #VITC2015 Instagram Exhibition running outside and First Thursdays throughout the area, Great Dane will create a night of back-to-back DJs, ticket and prize give-aways. Free entrance for VITC ticket holders and R30 for non-ticket holders.
