The DMASA was announced in July 2017 and fans were encouraged to nominate their top five favourites in the respective categories. This was followed by a finalist selection, which was running online for the past month. The online votes were then tallied up by an independent auditing company.
The Pioneers of House Award is an additional award that pays homage and recognises a legendary dance artist.
