SABC1 to air new footballing reality show

SABC 1 is added a new reality series to its weekend line-up with the launch of the Nedbank Ke Yona; Making The Team Search. The 30-minute show, which will air every Saturday at 2pm, will take viewers on a journey around the country in search of South Africa's hidden footballing talent.

Culminating into an 18-men squad, this team of ordinary footballers will get lifetime opportunity to take on the champions of the Nedbank Cup. Hosted by sports personality Lebo Mabena, the 12-part series will also feature prominent South African footballing greats Mike Mangena, Khabo Zondo, Owen DaGama and Shakes Mashaba as selectors.

The series will tell the story of ordinary South Africans who take a step towards making extraordinary things happen for themselves by auditioning for the Ke Yona Team," said Sydney Mbhele, divisional executive for integrated marketing of Nedbank.

Trials and tribulations of budding football stars

The series features the trials and tribulations of nine budding provincial football stars as they progress from the try outs, boot camp and final selection of the Nedbank Ke Yona Team.

"SABC 1 has a rich history of uncovering young Mzansi talent and providing them with a platform to showcase their natural competence. We are excited to partner Nedbank in this venture and see great future football personalities being discovered through it," said Vukile Madlala, channels head of publicity.
