UK conglomerate acquires 80% of SA engineering consultant

According to The Construction Index website, professional technical and management support services conglomerate Aecom Technology Corporation has agreed to buy 80% of South Africa-based consultant BKS.

Aecom chairman and chief executive officer John Dionisio said that the acquisition strengthens Aecom's position in "a strategically important, high-growth market." He added that BKS is also well situated to help the company "to expand its operations into this region."

A multidisciplinary consulting engineering and management firm with headquarters in South Africa and operations across Africa, BKS has approximately 900 employees, The Construction Index reports. It provides engineering and consulting services for public- and private-sector clients in the areas of buildings, stadia, transportation, water and sanitation, mining and energy. BKS chief executive officer Danai Magugumela said that the two companies share "similar values and objectives."
