The two soccer mad youngsters, Sikho Mbokotho (8) and Aviwe Dekeda (5), who have life-threatening illnesses, watched both the semi-final and final match of the Cape Town Cup. They also joined the two captains at the coin toss on the field.

The Cape Town Cup soccer event was sponsored by Sun International and The Table Bay Hotel and this activation with the Reach For A Dream Foundation was geared towards giving the two children an enriching experience.

Reach For A Dream began 27 years ago after its founder, Owen Parnell, read an article on the Make-A-Wish foundation in Reader's Digest. And the idea to inspire hope in children who are fighting a life threatening illness was born.

Over the years Reach For A Dream has fulfilled over 13 500 dreams and touched the lives of over 30 000 children through its projects and outings. In the last 10 years the Foundation has introduced a total of nine projects to its portfolio which has increased its interaction with their dream children.

Reach For A Dream say: "The fulfilment of these dreams inspires hope and courage in the dreamer and helps them believe that tomorrow is worth fighting for. Fulfilling dreams enables children to experience a fun aspect of life which they do not get to participate in due to their illness. The positive effect of the 'dream come true' lingers, and children often respond better to their medication."
