Having held the position of Tourism Services executive manager at Cape Town Tourism for almost four years, Duminy has played an active role in crafting Cape Town Tourism's new three-year business plan. He has built firm relationships at different levels within the tourism industry, a background that will inform his new role and enable him to ensure that the organisation continues to add value to the industry.

A passionate organisation in a dynamic industry

Says Duminy: "It's an honour to accept this post of CEO with humility and appreciation of the service it will be to the tourism industry of Cape Town. Cape Town Tourism is an agile, innovative and passionate organisation and we will continue to uphold these values as I take the helm. As incumbent, I plan to focus my first 100 days on setting the roadmap with the Cape Town Tourism team as to how we will deliver our agreed strategic objectives and tactical plans. My predecessor Mariëtte, has been a source of inspiration and expertise and I wish her well in her future endeavours."

Current Cape Town Tourism CEO, Mariëtte du Toit-Helmbold, commended Duminy on his appointment: "Enver has been a strong force within Cape Town Tourism and he is certainly ready to rise to the challenge. I wish him luck and can confirm that he is incredibly fortunate to head up a dynamic organisation such as Cape Town Tourism, working with an industry as passionate and committed as ours is."

Du Toit-Helmbold will be launching her own destination and tourism marketing agency after her exit on 31 July 2013. Says chairperson of Cape Town Tourism's Board, Sabine Lehmann, "Enver brings a great mix of leadership, operational experience and passion for customer care. Mariëtte leaves Cape Town Tourism in a very good place, with a strong executive management team who are familiar with Enver and will no doubt find this useful in the transition of leadership. The board is excited about the next era for Cape Town Tourism and look forward to building on the solid foundation and momentum achieved by the organisation in the last few years."

Grant Pascoe, Executive Mayoral Committee member for Tourism, Events and Marketing, confirmed that Duminy's appointment was well received by the City of Cape Town and that he looked forward to working with him: "Tourism is a challenging yet dynamic industry that is a significant contributor to the economy. We are sure that Enver's pragmatic approach and partnership-orientated style will be great assets to the industry as it weathers challenges and victories in the years to come."
