He will be responsible for all aspects of the business, with his primary focus being winemaking and viticulture and is a key addition to the relatively young Oldenburg team.

Adrian Vanderspuy, proprietor of Oldenburg, is very excited to have Costandius join the team. "He was our wine consultant when we released our first vintages and his wealth of knowledge and experience has had a very positive influence on our wine styles - he already has a strong affinity with and respect for our terroir and shares my belief in the vineyard."

The vineyards were replanted in 2003 and its maiden vintage of red wines was released in 2010, all of which were selected for the SA Top 100 Wines, amongst other awards. In 2011, it opened its cellar door and in September 2014, it will open rental accommodation in The Homestead, a luxury villa.

"Oldenburg has come a long way in a very short period of time. I share its vision of becoming a leading, well respected wine brand in South Africa," concluded Costandius.
