Job descriptionKey purpose of roleThe incumbent will be responsible for conceptualizing and scripting creative content and promos for Primedia Broadcasting platforms, including stations and digital platforms. They will write, develop and manage script elements across all Primedia Broadcasting platforms Key performance areasAbide by the Primedia values:
- Abide by the principles of Primedia values in all work and business relationships
Conceptualization, development and business partnering:
- Conceptualize, write and produce all live, recorded, digital, station imaging, brand positioning and pitch creative scripts ensuring delivery of high-end, innovative concepts and scripts on time, according to brief
- Work closely with sound engineers in the studios to deliver promos and commercials
- Collaborate with online producers in the production of web content
- Collaborate with videographers and designers for visual content, including social platforms
Minimum required qualification:
- Matric
- Copywriting degree or diploma preferable
- Formal and informal training to support the skills required
Qualifications considered advantageous:
- Copywriting degree or diploma
Minimum years of experience:
- Over 5 years copywriting experience necessary
- Traditional media or ad agency experience preferable
- Film environment experience desirable
- Fluency in social media advantageous
Additional role requirements:
- Some travel
- Valid driver’s license
Technical:
- Computer literacy
- Excellent ear for radio
- Creative flair
- Strong command of English (grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style)
- High attention to detail in scripts, briefs, and final executions
- Ability to write with accuracy and consistency across multiple platforms (radio, digital, social, print)
- Skills in editing, proofreading, and refining copy to ensure clarity and precision
- Versatility in adapting tone, style, and messaging for different audiences and brands
- Capacity to distil complex information into simple, engaging messaging
- Awareness of SEO principles and digital writing best practices (if relevant)
- Familiarity with production workflows and script formatting for broadcast
