Data Scientist

We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist (Business Intelligence) to transform complex data into actionable insights that support strategic and operational decision-making. The successful candidate will work across large datasets, develop analytical models, and deliver high-impact BI solutions using modern data platforms and tools.

This role requires strong programming capability, solid database expertise, and experience working within enterprise data environments

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain business intelligence and analytics solutions.
• Analyse structured and semi-structured data to uncover trends, patterns, and insights.
• Build predictive and descriptive models to support business decision-making.
• Develop and optimise complex SQL queries, views, and stored procedures.
• Create interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI.
• Implement and manage data pipelines using Azure data factory and Azure Synapse analytics.
• Apply sound data modelling techniques and design principles.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into analytical solutions.
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, and performance across BI platforms.

Required skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or actuarial sciences.
• Proven experience as a data scientist within a data science or modelling environment.
• Strong insurance industry experience and/or an actuarial background is highly desirable.
• Data science and machine learning; Python, R, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn
• Business intelligence and visualisation: Power BI
• Data engineering and platform, Azure data factory, Azure Synapse analytics, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka
• Programming languages: Python, R, Java, C, C#
• Databases: Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Concepts: Data modelling techniques, analytics and solution design principles
