Job descriptionKey roles and responsibilities:- Lecture and assess contact learning students in the B. Ed. foundation phase and/or Intermediate phase programmes in the following modules:
- Physical education and sport 1 (PESI301)
- Physical education and sport 2 (PESI302)
- Physical education and sport 3 (PESI400)
- Physical education and sport (PES300)
- Perform the role and responsibilities of the campus lecturer.
- Collaborate with the module coordinator and module team on teaching, learning, and assessment.
- Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
- Participate in relevant programme, curriculum, and material development.
- Carry out allocated internal moderation responsibilities.
- Carry out invigilation of venue-based assessments as reasonably required by the registrar’s office.
- Participate in school-based teaching practice assessments.
- Provide academic support to students.
- Complete all quality assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
- Participate in research and community engagement projects.
- Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
- Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
- Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
- Fulfil functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
- Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.
Qualification and minimum requirements: - Bachelor of education minimum onhours or equivalent qualification with relevant studies in physical education and sport and in school based teaching.
- At least 3 years of teaching and /or lecturing experience in the relevant phase/discipline.
- Knowledge and understanding of subject matter.
- Experience in curriculum and materials development.
- Experience in online teaching and learning environments will be an advantage.
Knowledge and skills:- Sound teaching and assessment skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
- High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern information technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to cope with change.
- Willingness to work when required on Saturdays.
