Northlink TVET College kicks off a bumper new year for 2024
Northlink College opened its doors for the first time on 8 January 2024, for support staff and key personnel. This is in preparation for the registration period for returning and new students which commenced on 10 January at Northlink’s seven campuses. Why visit the campuses of Northlink TVET College on their open day?
Because many college aspiring students are indecisive about which tertiary institution to attend, it is a choice which should not be taken frivolously. This is why you should attend an open day at Northlink College. The college has seven campuses, and to find out more information about the course offerings, prospective students can visit any of the campuses during an open day. Recently Covid-19 has had an inhibiting effect on a college open day spirit. Due to restrictions in movement and observation of Covid-19 protocols, no date has been set aside for an open day as yet. Northlink College receives ICT equipment from the UNDP with support from the Government of Japan
Northlink College forged a partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), under the banner: Automotive Training and Re-Skilling in the Post-Covid-19 Economic Recovery for Vulnerable Youth and Women in South Africa. The focus of the UNDP is mainly targeted at the youth and women. The Covid-19 pandemic exacerbated challenges around youth unemployment, interrupting learning and depriving students of opportunities for growth and prospects for employment, said Ms Phumla Hlati (UNDP's Inclusive Growth Programme Manager). Northlink College celebrates the opening of its Centre of Specialisation Trade Test Centre
Northlink College becomes the first accredited Trade Test Centre for Fitter and Turner Tradesmen. As part of protocol and norm, other TVET colleges such as college of Cape Town, False Bay College, and Tshwane South TVET College were all in attendance to act as assessors and moderators for the trade test, to ensure the objectivity of the results. Northlink College launches "The Link Show"- livestream
Northlink College recently launched its first online talk show called "The Link Show", broadcasted live via the college's social media channels, Facebook and YouTube. The show launched in collaboration with Nickay Productions and was broadcast and streamed live every Thursday at midday during August. Founded in 2002, Northlink College is one of 50 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges in South African which is governed by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). The core function of TVETs is to provide education and training, that will alleviate unemployment and address the skills gaps that exist. Northlink College opens its third centre for specialisation (CoS)
On Thursday, 6 May 2021, Northlink TVET College opened its third Centre of Specialisation (CoS) for Boilermaker at Bellville Campus. The college prides itself on housing three centres of specialisation awarded by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). This year, students and their national experts from all over the world will be traveling to Brazil to showcase their talents in various skills. The South Africa team will be part of the 72 countries that will be competing in the WorldSkills International competition in.
