Creative Circle congratulates local agencies

The Creative Circle says South African advertising agencies put in another world class performance at The One Show awards held at the Lincoln Centre in New York Wednesday night, 11 May 2005. South African agencies were recognized with no less than eight Pencils: two Golds, three Silvers, three Bronze, and an additional 31 Merit awards for work produced in 2004.

This outstanding performance saw South Africa ranked in seventh place in The One Show's Table of Best Performing Nations. Ahead of South Africa, were the USA, Germany, UK, Japan, Canada and Singapore. With the exception of Singapore, all these markets are massive compared to South Africa.

In terms of Creative Circle Creativity Points scored, South Africa gained 9175 points. This figure (the same as last years) is the second best performance by South Africa at The One Show since the Creative Circle Creativity Survey started in 1994.

Creative Circle awards spokesman Graham Warsop comments, "For a country the size of South Africa to outperform all but two European countries, the whole of Australia and New Zealand and all of South America - including the creative powerhouse Brazil, is a fine achievement. At a time when multi-national companies are increasingly looking to run adverts produced overseas in this market, it is highly desirable that South African agencies continue to prove they are capable of producing work to a world class standard."
