Comments Ben Wagner, chairperson of the DMMA, "An excellent turn out for a first time and long overdue category. An interesting and wide array of entry pieces totalling 53 entries in total from the first six months of this year (January - June 2010).

"Overall the conceptual thinking and idea generation was good, which is reflected extremely well in the winning piece of work that takes a subject that most South Africans strongly identify with - slow bandwidth! This scenario was cleverly juxtaposed against a romantic situation that is normally filled with a high level of angst and creatively plays with the notion of waiting for a loading sequence.

"Second spot also went to Mesh/Draftfcb who again demonstrated clever thinking, which again built an alliance with the user in demonstrating the value of the Vodacom offering. Third spot was a four-way tie between some great ideas and superb craft. A big step forward for digital and exciting times ahead for agencies and clients," he concludes.

As this category is being held quarterly, the next one will be judged in October for work from July-September.
