Koppi-Cuts Film Festival

As progressive arts festival Oppikoppi broadens the depths of its content, spreading its reaches to other artistic mediums in South Africa, it has become a formative canvas upon which various dynamics, like film, can be displayed. With this, the growing interest in visual-tech mediums can be catered for, whilst stimulating the burgeoning world-wide call for South Africa's unique blend of home-grown projects.

Sporting a wealth of talent, the SA film industry is producing some specialised and fine material, covering a multitude of topics, contemporary issues and concepts. Unfortunately, the majority of these works are rarely seen by the general public, and it was this concern that led to the birth of "Koppi-Cuts": a film festival dedicated to showcasing these young creative talents currently specialising in the fields of documentaries, films and music videos.

This festival of film piggy-backs onto Oppikoppi's PREMIX festival from 30 August - 5 September. The choice pieces will be screened at the PLUNGE main festival (5, 6, 7, 8 September) at Fountains Valley, Pretoria.

Material will be selected from the following categories:

1. Short films (Under 30 min)
2. Documentaries
3. Features
4. Music videos
5. Flash design
6. Animation
7. Advertisements

We are on the search for original and diverse material, visually tantalising images and rich, robust ideas. Anybody interested in submitting material should do so before 15 July, preferably in Betacam or DV/DVD format, although VHS will also be accepted.
