Awarding best PR practitioners worldwide

LONDON: At the recent IPRA Golden World Awards for Excellence in London, the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) chose its “Golden” winners for 2007 from a record number of entries – 403 from 46 countries. The Grand Prix, only revealed on the night, went to Corporate Voice Weber Shandwick with PSP – One Project for USAID (India) for Condoms: Changing the Perception of the Contraception, which also scooped the UN Award as well as being its category winner.

The awards for excellence were given to the “Golden” PR professionals at a gala dinner during the third Annual IPRA Summit, which took place 5 – 6 November 2007 at London's Waldorf Hotel. The summit (www.iprasummit.org) is an annual event for communications directors and senior public relations professionals, and a focus for the best ideas of 2007 from the brightest trendsetters in the industry, and a source of practical knowledge to help practitioners stay ahead of the game.

“There is no doubt that the IPRA Golden World Awards for Excellence have established themselves as the Oscars of international public relations,” said Michael Regester, chairman of the judging panel.

The choice of the IPRA judges was challenging in comparison with previous years because of both the quality of entries and the huge number of entries in the 21 categories, which generated a shortlist of 107 finalists.
