Official launch of Huawei Symantec's Johannesburg office

Huawei Symantec, the JV between US-based software security company Symantec and Chinese hardware manufacturer Huawei, officially launched a South African subsidiary on Thursday 24 February 2011. The new office will enable Huawei Symantec to effectively provide its customized network security and storage solutions to its growing base of customers in South Africa, which include Walter Sisulu University, Telkom, MTN, Cell C, Vodacom, FNB, the Aveng Group and other enterprises.

"The South African economy is enjoying tremendous growth, in particular, medium and large corporations in the telecom, finance, manufacturing, government, and resources sectors. We are pleased to bring to South African enterprises the company's cutting edge, yet practical innovations that help meet their growing need for scalable and reliable data storage and network security solutions," says Edmont Rao, regional director, Sub-Sahara Region, Huawei Symantec. "South Africa is an important market for the company and the opening of our subsidiary office emphasizes our commitment to and our ongoing investment in the region."

Its network security and storage solutions are currently available through its distribution partners, Drive Control Corporation and Mustek.
