Hakuna matata year-end functions

Doing things differently for year end functions is a challenge even the most creative event planner faces. Creating a memorable event that will attract the interest of the most jaded blue collar employee is a considerable achievement in corporate South Africa today. The producers of The Lion King have announced that the internationally acclaimed production's run in Johannesburg will be extended until 2 December 2007.

The Lion King theatre production is one of the biggest musical shows in the world that has played to packed houses in China, The United States, Britain, Canada, Japan, Australia, Germany, Holland and South Korea. It has played to packed audiences in South Africa since opening in June and has come home to South African shores as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations. The production is being staged in the 1900-seat Teatro at Montecasino, Fourways, Johannesburg.

The Lion King has met with a phenomenal response from the public, and the corporate market quickly realised the potential to use the show, which has been described as one of the most ambitious stage productions ever created, to treat clients and staff to an unforgettable corporate entertainment experience. In the first nine weeks of The Lion King, Montecasino Corporate Events hosted almost 20 000 guests for corporate hospitality,” says Lynn Baker, GM of Montecasino Corporate Events. “The staging of The Lion King in South Africa offers the most unique and versatile client entertainment opportunities ever available in South Africa,” explained Baker. “It is seldom that a production of this magnitude and scale can be seen on South African soil, and it offers unparalleled opportunities to treat clients and staff to truly world class entertainment.”

She adds: “The extension of the show offers many more companies the opportunity to use The Lion King show as an exceptional and vastly different alternative to the normal year-end lunch or dinner.
