Lufthansa opens its largest lounge worldwide

Frequent flyers who have achieved Senator status on Lufthansa Group's Miles & More programme now have an opportunity to relax in style at Lufthansa's largest airport lounge. In the departure area of Terminal 1 at Frankfurt, customers with Senator status - the 2nd highest status at Lufthansa, which is reached at 100 000 miles per annum - can enjoy a modern wellness area with luxury facilities that include 10 showers and two spa rooms.

Another entirely new addition to the Senator Lounge is the City Lights Bar, whose name - spelled out in one-metre-high letters - forms an effective room divider. Passengers with a First Class boarding pass for a same-day departure and HON Circle status customers are also welcome in the new Senator Lounge in Frankfurt, as an alternative to their access to the First Class lounges and the exclusive First Class Terminal at Lufthansa's hub airport.

    It's all about the atrium

At the centre of the lounge, there is an atrium, which allows natural light to flood into the areas not fronted by the 130m² glass façade. The atrium is surrounded by numerous service facilities, including an inviting wellness area, where Lufthansa Senator Card holders can unwind and enjoy massages, facials, full-body treatments or other beauty treatments.

Another entirely new feature of the lounge concept is the City Lights Bar, which was designed in coordination with Lufthansa Senators. The bar incorporates unique lighting effects that have been created with over 30 000 light-emitting diodes. A bartender is in attendance to fulfil guests' requests for drinks and mix cocktails or classic long drinks.

The whole lounge has a floor space of about 1800m² with seating for over 300 guests. In addition to the comfort zones, bistros and work areas, there is also a generously proportioned, separate relaxing area with leather day beds and a smokers' room. Easy chairs also invite guests to sit back and unwind and enjoy views of the airport apron. As usual, there is a wide selection of newspapers and magazines, and up-to-the-minute news bulletins can be watched on TVs located throughout the lounge.

The Lufthansa lounge worldwide comprises around 60 lounges, with a total floor space of over 28 000m².

Free Internet access in all Lufthansa's lounges worldwide

Since 1 July 2011, guests at all Lufthansa lounges have had access to a free, wireless broadband Internet service, which means visitors can now surf the Web on their own personal notebook.
