The youth empowerment workshop, which happens in tandem with all-star concert MTV Africa All Stars KwaZulu-Natal with Snoop Lion, will be held at the Playhouse, Durban on Friday, 17 May 2013, between 9.30am and 2pm.
Put together by music channel MTV Base and KwaZulu-Natal province, the free workshop aims to provide insights into the music business, tapping into the knowledge and experience of established musicians, managers and industry insiders. Topics under consideration will include "Getting Out There", a module which discusses innovative ways for musicians to promote themselves and their music; "Music and Money", a session on how to monetise your product; and "Bands as Brands".
More than 300 students and up-and-coming musicians from the Durban area have been invited to attend the workshop.

Representing MTV Base will be Alex Okosi, senior vice-president and managing director of Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa, who will be joining the "Getting Out There" panel, and MTV legal representative Alishia Chotu, who will participate in the "Music and Money" session.
