Man meets crocodile at The Labia

Into the Dragon's Lair - a film pushing the boundaries between man and crocodile, shot on location in the Okavango Delta, Botswana, will be screened at the Labia Theatre, Cape Town, from 1 October, 2010.

NHU Africa's Into the Dragon's Lair, with co-production partners Animal Planet US and Animal Planet International is a documentary thriller. The story was captured by South Africa's Craig and Damon Foster.

It was when Didier Noirot, an experienced diver with Jacques Cousteau on over 5000 dives, had a fleeting encounter with a giant crocodile that he decided to fulfill his dream, which was to dive with a dragon, a giant Nile crocodile; the last predator on earth that views humans as viable prey.

The lair of the crocodile

Teaming up with Roger Horrocks, a South African cameraman and world-class free diver, the two set out to enter into the lair of the crocodile - a mission most would consider suicidal. Deep within the Okavango's papyrus caves, Noirot and Horrocks encountered a 14-foot crocodile that seemed to accept their presence, allowing intimate footage of the creatures.

Sophie Vartan, CEO of NHU Africa said: "This is one of NHU Africa's finest films. The footage of these crocs is so unique. Even whilst on location we could hardly believe what we were witnessing. This film brings into question everything we thought we knew about crocodiles."

Into the Dragon's Lair won the first runner-up for the Best Camera Award at the International NaturVision Film Festival and won the Excellence in Underwater Cinematography Award at the BLUE Ocean Film Festival.

Into the Dragon's Lair will be screened from 1 October onwards, for a limited run at the Labia Theatre in Cape Town, for screening times telephone + 27 (0)21 424 5927.
