ArcelorMittal Vereeniging celebrates 100 years of operations

ArcelorMittal South Africa reached a milestone on Tuesday, 15 November 2011, when it marked 100 years from the day that the steelmaker's Vereeniging Plant was founded in 1911. Hundreds of employees gathered at Vereeniging Works to celebrate the occasion which was met with jubilation as employees toasted to a further 100 years to come.

Acting GM for Vereeniging Works, Cobus Muller said: "We are proud to have been able to witness such an incredible milestone in the history of the largest steel producer on the African continent. Vereeniging Works is entrenched in the heritage of the town of Vereeniging and we are excited about this achievement."
