    Hilton College wins PMB regional of BDO Inter-Schools Quiz

    Hilton College won first place in the second round of the 2017 BDO Inter-Schools Quiz for the Pietermaritzburg region at St Anne's Diocesan College in Hilton on 7 March against fierce competition from 11 other schools.

    There are 38 schools from Durban and Pietermaritzburg taking part in the competition which is being run for the seventh year by the Durban office of international audit, tax and advisory firm, BDO.

    The winning team of four Grade 10/11 learners from Hilton College school was made up of Khetha Khoza, Greg Jacobs, Timothy Whitaker, Neil Johnston. They notched up 88 points in the general knowledge quiz, narrowly beating Michaelhouse into second place.

    The first and second placed teams – each made up of four Grade 10 or 11 learners - will go through to the final championship round of the competition, along with the top two teams from each of three other regional rounds, at Clifton College on 2 May.

    The overall champions win the opportunity to select an underprivileged school to be the recipient of books to the value of R10,000. BDO has teamed up with Books & Books and education centre, Kip McGrath, again this year for the donation.

    There were 32 teams participating in the Pietermaritzburg round this year from 11 schools, namely St Charles School, Epworth Independent High School for Girls, St Johns DSG, Michaelhouse, St Nicholas School, PMB Girls High School, Hilton College, The Wykeham Collegiate, Grace College, St Anne’s Diocesan College, Maritzburg College.
