Letsoalo, Majola join Gagasi

Gagasi 99.5 FM's new lineup will see Vusi Letsoalo and Archie Majola returning to the airwaves next week, Monday, 1 March 2010. The changes were announced yesterday, Wednesday 24 February, at the station's offices in Umhlanga, north of Durban.

Letsoalo will be doing the weekend shows on Saturdays, 2pm - 6pm, and on Sundays, 10am - 2pm, while Majola will be doing the weekday afternoon drive show as he is suitable for the type of music that the station plays during weekends, according to programmes manager Patrick Bogatsu. The two are supposed to bring with them years of radio experience, having worked in a number of commercial radio stations in the past.

Gagasi acting MD Rene Schutte welcomed the two, saying that they will be big assets to the station. “We are constantly reviewing our on-air product and we are identifying ways of improving it. Four years ago we started with the listenership of 500 000 but today we have 1.9 million; a growth of more than 400% in a period of only four years,” she said.

With this new lineup, said Schutte, the station is now setting a stage for even greater audience numbers. Bogatsu added that it is now aiming to reach and pass the 2 million listeners mark.

“Both Majola and Letsoalo have vast experience on radio and I believe that they are the right people to help us grow our audience figures,” commented Bogatsu.
