Welcoming Nelson, Kenny Maomela, executive chairman of the ComutaNet Group, said, that Nelson's 20 years of media and retail management experience, accompanied by a history of in-depth engagement with South Africa's economic backbone, the middle mass market, makes his leadership a valuable asset to all ComutaNet stakeholders. Nelson brings with him considerable skills and assets, not least his passion and commitment to client-centred media solutions.

A member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants' Black Entrepreneur Initiative (BEI), Nelson is accustomed to equipping dynamic township entrepreneurs with direction and vital business skills. “This expertise will enrich our growing relationships with key players in the township and taxi industries,” continued Maomela.

Nelson has held senior executive positions in retail corporations including Woolworths, where his tenacity and ability to implement sustainable business strategies forged his position as a major player in establishing Woolworths franchises in South Africa and other countries within the South African Development Community (SADC). His operational and sales experience was gained at Foschini, Tiger Brands and Smollan Holdings.

“In a fluctuating economy, marketers and clients expect media owners to leverage ad spend wisely and prudently. The current economic climate demands media accountability and positive returns on investment - which ComutaNet embraces,” said Nelson.

ComutaNet is a wholly owned Primedia Limited subsidiary which offers SA marketers access to more than 20 million economically active adults on a daily basis through its 11 media platforms including Rank TV, Star Taxi Music, Commuter FM, Star Radio, Taxi, Bus, Train and Trailer Advertising, Commuter Outdoor platforms and Interactive Promotional Campaigns.
