Topco, one of Cape Town’s leading media powerhouses, is on the lookout for a passionate Graduate Conference Producer to help bring our innovative, custom-designed events to life. (Please note: the successful candidate must be based in Cape Town.)

Responsibilities
- Conduct telephone and in-person research within target markets to develop conference agendas and identify topics of interest based on current industry issues and emerging trends.
- Analyse the feasibility of proposed conference topics and assess their potential to become commercially viable events that meet market needs.
- Identify, invite, and secure appropriate speakers, ensuring high-quality contributions to conference programmes.
- Manage and meet established deadlines across multiple projects.
- Write clear, engaging marketing copy for promotional materials, including conference brochures and email campaigns.
- Conduct ongoing research within assigned sectors to deepen industry knowledge and generate new conference ideas.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key professionals, industry leaders, senior executives, and media within relevant vertical markets.
- Provide professional, service-oriented support to customers during day-to-day operations and onsite at conferences.
- Research and supply the marketing department with strategic insights, including target market profiles, relevant industry associations and publications, geographic considerations, and competitor event analysis.
- Provide the sponsorship team with strategic information on potential sponsorship opportunities and offer ongoing support as required.
- Collaborate with and support cross-functional teams to ensure the successful marketing, sponsorship, and delivery of conferences.
Relevant Experience (Even if minimal)
- University projects involving research, writing, or presentations
(Shows ability to analyse information and communicate clearly.) - Event involvement at university or clubs
– organising student events, society activities, open days, workshops, etc.
(Even informal experience counts.) - Internships or part-time roles in:
- marketing
- admin
- journalism/media
- customer service
- project coordination
- Any role requiring communication with people, especially over email, phone, or in person.
- Strong research abilities
- Confident communication (written + verbal)
- Organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Attention to detail
- Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn
- Relationship-building or people skills
- Ability to work well under deadlines
- Familiarity with the events industry
- Experience using CRM tools or project management platforms
- Basic knowledge of business trends or current affairs
- Exposure to media, conferences, or corporate environments
