Senior Event Producer and Strategic Lead

Rainbow Marketing, established in 1994, is an owner‑run event management and marketing agency. We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and hands‑on senior professional to join our MANCO team. This role is ideal for a seasoned events expert, who can lead high‑level projects while mentoring and uplifting our junior staff. Role purpose

The senior event producer and strategic lead will oversee the planning, production, and execution of events while contributing to the strategic direction of the agency. The successful candidate will ensure exceptional delivery standards, manage key client relationships, and build internal capacity through training and leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end event production, from concept development to onsite management.
• Provide strategic input to agency growth and participate actively as part of MANCO.
• Mentor, train, and uplift interns and junior team members.
• Develop creative and strategic proposals, presentations, and pitches.
• Manage existing and secure new client relationships, ensuring professional communication and delivery excellence.
• Oversee supplier sourcing, procurement, and contract negotiation.
• Manage event budgets, cost controls, and financial reporting.
• Coordinate technical, audio‑visual, staging, and spatial planning requirements.
• Ensure seamless food, beverage, and hospitality service standards at all events.
• Drive procurement, negotiation, and supplier management.
• Ensure all events are delivered on time, within budget, and at a world‑class standard.

Starting salary: R35,000, expenses (data, fuel, disbursements) plus event management fee per big event and Business Development Commission.

Required skills and experience

• 10+ years proven experience in event production, preferably in Cape Town.
• A strong industry reputation and established supplier/client networks.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including hybrid presenting.
• Creative strategy, concept development, and copywriting ability.
• Financial budgeting, reporting, and cost control expertise.
• Strong understanding of technical, audio‑visual, and staging components.
• Knowledge of hospitality, food, beverage, and service operations.
• Spatial planning and event flow design.
• Negotiation expertise in supplier and client environments.
• Business development abilities to grow the events department.
• Highly organised, solutions‑driven, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Own reliable transport and ability to travel as required.
