Junior Data Scientist – Badger Holdings

George, Western Cape (On-site | Office-based)

Are you ready to launch your career in data science and make a real impact? At Badger Holdings, we’re looking for a Junior Data Scientist who’s eager to learn, innovate, and put machine learning into action to solve real business problems.

What You’ll Do

You’ll work alongside an experienced team, gaining hands-on exposure across the full data science lifecycle:

• Prep, clean, and transform datasets for machine learning tasks

• Explore data to uncover insights that drive smart model design

• Develop and validate machine learning models

• Monitor and retrain models to stay ahead of drift

• Build dashboards & reports to turn insights into decisions

• Document your processes clearly so the team can build on your work

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Degree / Honours in Data Science

• Exposure to machine learning algorithms

• Familiarity with Python or R, and databases like SQL/Snowflake

• Strong analytical mindset, curiosity, and eagerness to problem-solve

• Proactive, self-starter who loves diving into data

Preferred (Nice-to-Have):

• Experience with machine learning platforms

• Insurance or financial services knowledge

• Prior exposure to claims modelling or survival analysis

• Familiarity with time series forecasting

• BI tools (Power BI, Qlik Sense, Tableau, etc.)
