Lecturer – Physical Education and Teaching Practice

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Lecture and assess contact learning and distance learning students in the Higher Certificate (Pre-School Education), BEd (Foundation Phase Teaching) and the BEd (Intermediate Phase Teaching) programme(s) in the following modules:

           o   Physical Education and Sport

           o   Physical Education and Sport 1

           o   Physical Education and Sport 2

           o   Physical Education and Sport 3

           o   School-Based Teaching Practice 1

          o   Institutional Teaching Practice 1

• Perform the role and responsibilities of the module coordinator (MC).
• Compile teaching, learning, and assessment materials.
• Use a learning management system independently and/or work collaboratively to develop and deliver modules.
• Participate in relevant programme, curriculum and material development.
• Carry out allocated internal moderation responsibilities.
• Carry out invigilation of venue-based assessments as reasonably required by the Registrar’s Office.
• Participate in school-based Teaching Practice assessments.
• Provide academic support to students.
• Complete all Quality Assurance requirements related to the modules and programmes.
• Participate in research and community engagement projects.
• Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
• Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and SOPs
• Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
• Fulfil functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
• Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.

Qualifications and Experience | Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor of Education Honours or equivalent qualification with relevant study in Foundation Phase and Physical Education.
• At least 3 years teaching and/or lecturing experience in the relevant phases and disciplines.
• Experience in curriculum and materials development.
• Experience in online and blended teaching and learning environments.

• High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern Information Technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.

• Willingness to work when required on Saturdays.
