Job description
1. Position purposeThe Sales Representative is responsible for selling print and digital advertising space by identifying client needs and offering tailored media solutions. This role supports the company's revenue growth and market presence by building long-term client relationships and consistently achieving sales targets.
2. Key responsibilities
2.1 Sales and revenue generation
- Sell advertising space across print publications and digital platforms (Rekord newspapers, website, social media platforms and the Get It Magazine)
- Identify, approach, and convert new business opportunities through prospecting and networking.
- Develop tailored media proposals based on client objectives.
- Negotiate and finalize advertising contracts in line with pricing policies.
- Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly revenue targets.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients.
- Provide ongoing client support, including performance updates and renewal discussions.
- Maintain strong relationships that lead to repeat business and referrals.
- Monitor the performance of digital campaigns and provide feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Log all sales activities, customer details, and deal status updates on the call sheets.
- Prepare and submit quotes, proposals, booking forms, and supporting documents.
- Ensure all advertisings materials and approvals are received by internal deadlines.
- Submit weekly sales pipeline reports and forecasts.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and digital advertising innovations.
- Maintain deep knowledge of all advertising formats, audience segments, and publication cycles.
- Educate clients on media solutions, including sponsored content, native advertising, and targeting options.
- Coordinate with production, support staff, and finance to ensure smooth execution of campaigns.
- Contribute to internal brainstorming sessions for product development and campaign ideas.
Requirements
3. Minimum qualifications and experience- Matric (required)
- Must reside in Pretoria
- Minimum 2 years proven sales experience in media of advertising (preferable)
- Valid driver's license and own reliable vehicle (for field reps).
- Good Computer knowledge - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
- Proven ability to meet or exceed revenue targets
- Strong relationship-building and solution skills
- Clear, persuasive verbal and written communication
- Basic understanding of digital advertising
- Manages workload effectively and meets deadlines
- Confident in closing sales and managing client objections
- Works effectively with internal departments to meet client expectations.
