Junior Sales and Merchandising Representative

Key roles and responsibilities

Sales and promotions

• Service all customers, both new and existing, within your specific retail groups.
• Present and promote products, offering support to ensure the maintenance of sales and increased market share.
• Conduct product demonstrations to educate retail staff on product knowledge, features, benefits, and usage.
• Provide training to retail staff on sales techniques and merchandising best practices.

Merchandising

• Ensure that each product is prominently displayed and well-stocked to create an attractive and inviting retail environment. Assist with display concepts where necessary.
• Manage planogram changes in accordance with promotional grids as predetermined by advertising principles.
• Report to head office on slower-selling products based on stock-on-hand reports and propose promotions or specials to increase turnover.

Requirements

• Matric/Grade 12.
• Certificate or diploma in sales, marketing, merchandising, or related field (preferred but not mandatory).
• Prior experience in the vet/pet industry or working with pet-related products is highly advantageous.
• A genuine love for animals or being a pet lover is essential.
• Flexibility to travel is essential, as the role involves visiting and servicing multiple stores across Gauteng and surrounding areas in a field sales capacity.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
• Bilingual: English and Afrikaans.
• Valid driver’s licence with reliable transport.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility to work outside regular business hours for in-store promotions or events.
